Cotes de Provence

Régine Sumeire, third generation of wine growers, acquired Barbeyrolles in 1977. She fell instantly in love with this property located at the foot of Gassin, one of the three villages on the Saint-Tropez peninsula. Twelve hectares of vines, a preserved spot of magical beauty, which has been painted by many artists, one of whom was Charles Camoin.

This sleepy vineyard required a lot of patience and determination. Since 1978, environmentally sound works have been carried out successively to improve the vineyards and to erect the buildings for wine-making. The first bottles from Château Barbeyrolles came out in April 1982.

The coastal land of Chateau Barbeyrolles is located in the Maures hills, All 30 acres have soils dating back to Paleozoic era.

Syrah 96%
Cabernet sauvignon 4%

Organic wine certified by FR-BIO 10. Grapes are harvested manually. The grapes are picked and sorted by hand, according to their polyphenolic ripeness (depending on the evolution of the maturity, two to three analytical tests and berry tastings are carried out every week in order to determine the optimum harvest date). In the press room, the berries are destemmed, slightly treaded and transferred into stainless steel vats. The alcoholic fermentation is run so as to extract optimum fruit and colour, but also to produce an elegant wine. Maceration lasts about 10 days. Two or three transfers are performed during the maturation. Then the wine is blended in vats and bottled in the Château.
